Bob Richardson was born in 1938 in Salford, Lancashire. He initially utilised his artistry, after 5 years at art school, in the world of advertising.
In 1975, he took the decision to turn professional as a painter, following considerable success at exhibitions as an amateur painter.
Since then, his reputation has grown, being a voting member of the Pastel Society and a regular exhibitor at the invitation shows of the Confederation of British Artists and the Mall Galleries in London. In 1991, it was here where he was awarded their “Grand Prix”, other awards have followed and his paintings are now in many significant corporate collections including Granada Television, BMW Cars Ltd, Walkers Crisps, Boddingtons Brewery, Manchester Stock Exchange and Salford Art Gallery.
Paintings in private collections of note are similarly numerous, both Baroness Thatcher and the musician Bill Wyman have become owners of his paintings.
He has gained considerable respect in the art world, his paintings have a superb radiance, charm and atmosphere, and as an art critic for the Daily Telegraph wrote: “He achieves a standard of excellence which holds its own against the best of the masters of his genre”.
